A sensory table that encourages coactivity and tactile feeling.

This project was a gift to “A Loving Space” Preschool in Bellingham, WA.

They requested a sensory table.

1/3 size 3d concept models and scale child.

The 4’x4’ plywood sheet was donated by a local plywood manufacturer, Mt. Baker Products.

200+ holes were drilled through the plywood layers.

Paracord was sewn to hold together the outer joints. This is a abrasion-resistant cord that has a load strength of 550lbs. By wrapping around the plys, the cord ensures the plywood will never delaminate. In event the table must be recycled, the paracord can be re-used; it is often promoted by survival experts because of it’s uniquely re-usable outer sheath and 7 inner strands.

These side pockets hold toys or sand tools yet ensure the dry media does not collect inside.

The sewn edges also add a tactile aspect to the table as well as envoke a sense of creativity.
